Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. What is IPL treatment?
IPL treatment is a non-invasive light-based therapy that uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths to target various skin concerns, including hyperpigmentation, sun damage, age spots, acne scars, and rosacea. Intense pulsed light, or IPL, emits multiple wavelengths into your skin and targets melanin-producing cells that rise to the surface and pigmented areas. The light is converted to heat energy and destroys those melanin-producing cells. They’re brought to the surface and then flake off, revealing revitalized skin. The same technology works for eliminating acne, vascular lesions, sun damage, freckles and spider veins. We can treat almost anywhere on your body!
  • 2. What machine do you use?
We use the Alpha Pro for our IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments. The Alpha Pro is a state-of-the-art device that delivers precise, targeted bursts of light to the skin to treat a variety of concerns, including sun damage, and skin discoloration. This machine features advanced cooling technology to minimize discomfort during the treatment, and its customizable settings allow us to tailor the treatment to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • 3. Is IPL treatment painful?
Most patients experience only mild discomfort during IPL treatment. You may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation, but the treatment is generally well-tolerated and requires no anesthesia.
  • 4. How many IPL treatments will I need?
Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve the desired results, spaced several weeks apart to allow the skin time to heal between sessions. Your technician will be able to give you a better idea of how long your specific treatment plan will take during your consultation.
  • 5. Is IPL treatment safe?
IPL treatment is generally safe when performed by a licensed and experienced provider. However, like any medical procedure, there are some risks and potential side effects, including skin irritation, redness, and temporary pigment changes. We take every precaution to minimize these risks and ensure our patients’ safety.
  • 6. How do I prepare for my appointment?
Avoid applying any topical products the day of your appointment. Do not apply sunless tanner for the two weeks prior to your treatment date. This includes the tanning bed.
  • 7. How long is each appointment?
The length of an IPL treatment can vary depending on the area being treated and the specific concerns being addressed. In general, a session can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. During the treatment, the technician will use the IPL handpiece to deliver pulses of light to the skin, targeting areas of discoloration or redness.
  • 8. What to expect post-treatment?
After an IPL treatment, you may experience some mild redness, swelling, or discomfort in the treated area. These side effects are usually temporary and should subside within a few hours to a few days. It is also common to experience some darkening of the treated areas, which may flake off over time as the skin naturally exfoliates.
To minimize your risk of complications after an IPL treatment, it is important to follow all post-treatment instructions provided by your esthetician. This may include avoiding sun exposure, applying ice or cooling gel to the treated area, and using gentle skincare products until your skin has fully healed.
It is also important to note that the results of an IPL treatment may not be immediate. It can take several weeks or even months for the full effects of the treatment to become apparent. During this time, it is important to be patient and consistent with your skincare routine to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • 1. How does the Scarlet RF treatment work?
Scarlet RF features “Ground-Breaking Technology” utilizing 25 microneedles and bipolar fractional radiofrequency to create tiny controlled wounds using mechanical and thermal energy. Heat from the RF produces new collagen and elastin fibers, improves skin tightening and texture of skin.
  • 2. What does Scarlet RF treat?
Scarlet RF targets scalp skin tightening, face skin tightening and lifting, double chin, neck and body skin tightening. Recently, Short pulse RF technology of Scarlet was clinically proven to improve rosacea, acne vulgaris, melasma, and spider veins. Scarlet improves common issues such as skin texture, pores, sun damage, scars, and stretch marks.
  • 3. What does it feel like?
With a numbed face, the treatment feels like little more than light pressure to the face, with most patients report experiencing little to no pain. The micro-needles are extremely thin and work with gentle pressure for maximum comfort.
  • 4. How many treatments are required?
Each person is different. A person can see results in one treatment, but prefer to have 3-6 treatments due to the stunning compound effect of multiple treatments.
  • 5. How long does a treatment take?
Scarlet takes about, 30 minutes for a topical numbing application, and 20 minutes for the face and 10 minutes for the neck. The time needed for a body treatment depends on the size and condition of the area to be treated.
  • 6. How is Scarlet RF treatment for different skin types?
Scarlet is safe and works on all skin types.
  • 7. Is there any special preparation or follow-up regimen?
No. Scarlet treatment doesn’t need any special preparation or follow-up regimen. Basic skin care and sunscreen is enough for aftercare. Since Scarlet procedure has little to no downtime, most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. Rosacea patients exhibit a temporary redness or minor swelling after treatment, but this usually goes away within 24 to 72 hours.
  • 8. When do the results appear, and how long do they last?
Visible tightening results come immediately, and the results of dermal remodeling appear over time in the course of new collagen, elastin fibers regenesis and vascular rejuvenation. For most patients, measurable results appear gradually in 2 to 3 months. The results can last 6 months to a year following a single treatment, depending on your skin condition and aging process.
  • 1. What are the benefits of the procedure?
There will no longer be a need for shaving, waxing or chemical bleaching.
 There won’t be ingrown hairs.
You will save money on temporary hair removal methods.
You save time sitting in a chair for waxing, bleaching or threading.
You won’t have to constantly worry about shaving or waxing anymore.
It will enhance your appearance and boost your confidence.
  • 2. How does the laser cause permanent hair reduction?
The laser fires a beam of light energy, that light energy is absorbed by the melanin, the pigmentation and the blood vessels of the hair follicle. When the follicle absorbs the light, the light is converted into heat, which then destroys the follicle. Once the hair follicle is destroyed, it ceases to re-grow hair. Hair follicles go through transitions of being active and dormant. During your treatment the laser will cover all of the skin’s surface area; however, only the active follicles will be affected by the laser. Due to the fact that only about 30 to 50% of your hair is active at any point in time, it will require multiple treatments to ensure that we get each and every hair follicle.
  • 3. What parts of the body can be treated?
With the varied tip sizes ,virtually every part of a man or a woman’s body can receive, fast and comfortable treatment, leaving you smooth from top to bottom. Women tend to treat the upper lip, the underarms, the bikini line, and the legs. Men generally treat the back of the neck, back, chest and abdomen.
  • 4. Will the procedure be painful?
The Alpha System has an adjustable cooling system to eliminate discomfort without compromising the end results. Each and every person has a different level of sensitivity and tolerance to stimulation. What may be uncomfortable to one person may not bother another person at all. It really all depends on your individual sensitivity and tolerance; most of our patients tolerate the treatments just fine. It’s not uncommon to experience a slight tingling or stinging sensation during the treatment. We also take extra measures to ensure that you are kept as comfortable as possible, we can do this by applying numbing creams and using ice packs during the procedure.
  • 5. How long are the treatments?
While your exact treatment time will depend upon which part of your body is being treated, all body areas take no longer than 30 minutes. The beauty of this procedure is that there is absolutely no downtime meaning you can literally come in on your lunch break and return back to your normal activities immediately after you get the procedure done.
  • 6. Will the laser hair removal be permanent?
The beauty of laser hair removal is that it is permanent. The majority of patients can expect to achieve from 70 to 90% permanent hair reduction. Laser hair removal is not as effective on blond, red, or gray hair, and hormonal changes can cause re-growth, which may require additional treatments. With the Alpha laser, nearly everyone is a candidate for laser hair removal, and we can treat all skin colors and both fine and coarse hair. Since it’s less effective on lighter hair, we recommend you schedule a consultation so we can explain what types of results you should expect from the procedure.
  • 7. What are the side effects?
With laser hair removal, side effects are uncommon but when they do occur they are generally temporary and mild, they may include: darkening of the skin, loss of skin pigmentation, temporary redness, swelling or itching of the treated area, small bumps like goose bumps (follicular edema), and bruising. We tell our clients the best way for them to maximize results is to stay out of the sun for the two weeks before the procedure and two weeks afterward. Clients who are pregnant should be aware that they may experience different results due to hormonal changes.
  • 8. What will I look like in between sessions?
We will remove most of the visible hair during each session. Whatever is left over will shed naturally in approximately two weeks. Your skin should remain clear and smooth for the next 4 to 6 weeks before you see fine hairs to grown in. By repeating your sessions on schedule, the treated area will remain free of hair throughout your multiple treatment sessions, so your skin will appear clear and smooth.
  • 9. Am I a candidate for laser hair removal?
Clients will see visible results after their first treatment, their hairs are fewer and finer; the skin is smoother and the pores are less noticeable. You will see more impressive results with each treatment; however, laser hair removal is less effective on people with blond, gray, or red hair. For people with lighter hair, electrolysis is still their best option. We offer an initial complimentary consultation where we can determine if you’re a good candidate for laser hair removal and what to can expect.
